Funerals Funeral services are held in the church as well as at other appropriate places. Please contact Sylvia at the church office to arrange for clergy to meet and consult with you about the time and arrangements for a funeral. The Bereavement Committee will work with families to plan and organize visitation hours in the church parlor.
Clergy Hospital Ministry Our clergy make daily pastoral visits to area hospitals. However, the hospitals will not release names of patients without Confidentiality forms being completed by the patient. This means we often do not know when some parishioners are in the hospital. Please call the church office promptly to advise a pending hospitalization or that you or a family member has been admitted.
Prayer Requests Please call the church office or place a completed Prayer Request card in the offering plate to place a name on the prayer list. Please obtain permission from the person for whom prayers are offered so that we may publish their name in the Sunday program. The names are lifted up in prayer daily. After 30 days please renew your prayer request.
Our Family This lay ministry provides house or child sitting during a funeral, preparing food for those in need, or just making contact with a parishioner during a time of crisis.
Stephen Ministry Stephen Ministers work closely with the clergy in times of personal need, grief, or crisis. They are caring, supportive, lay members of the parish trained in confidential, in-depth sharing, companionship and comfort throughout a period of need. Learn more about Stephen Ministry and becoming a Stephen Minister.
Alter Flower Delivery Guild Flowers from the Alter are delivered on Mondays to the residence of shut-in parishioners, or those who are seriously ill, to provide an uplifting remembrance from the church family.
Home Nursing Ministry St. James clergy and parishioners lead the services in four nursing homes: Ollie Steele Burden Manor, St. Clare Manor, Williamsburg, and St. James Place. They offer the Eucharist to these residents, enabling them to participate in worship on a regular basis.
Guild of the Christ Child Ministers to children beginning at birth. Guild members visit new mothers, invite them to join the group, bring them information about baptism and usually bring them dinner.
Welcoming Newborns - Baby Sign Visitors Transport a sign to the home of newborn babies in our St. James community. The sign includes the name of the church, logo, boy and girl angel and a welcome to our littlest parishioner message. Anyone who has a new baby should contact Sylvia Rabalais, 387-5141.
