Evangelisn & Fellowship

Cursillo
Christians are blessed byGod, but most of us are only faintly aware of just how blessed. This blessing has a purpose, not just to be received, but to be passed on to others. A Cursillo 3-day weekend is intended to help Christians discover and live their personal ministry. Programs are held three times each year.
Episcopal Church Women
The ECW is generally organized into chapters to best fit the time available and needs of the members. Several outreach programs are supported. St. James' famous Gumbo lunches are served in Bishops Hall to the downtown community on Fridays during Lent.

Supper and Social
Groups are formed in the fall and continue as long as they choose (six meetings being average). They meet in participants' homes for an evening meal and fellowship. This informal setting helps members know one another in a way that is not possible on Sunday morning. Newcomers are especially encouraged to join a group.

Teen Mission Trip
Each summer the high school students join together with another church to travel to a poverty area in the Appalachian Mountains for a week of carpentry, fence building, painting and whatever else is needed to assist the poor and elderly improve their living standard. The reward is bonding with friends and being a Christian missionary.

Young Adults
The group meets periodically for fellowship and sharing. The purpose of the group is to welcome new members with young families, to share interests, and promote fellowship. Events are scheduled in evenings or weekends.

Greeters Guild
This hospitality ministry provides personal contact for those calling the Ministries Center (business office) by answering the telephone, unlock the front door to admit visitors and staff, and greet everyone. Service is 3-hours once or twice a month.

Gumbo
Has been a tradition at St. James for more than 50 years. Gumbo lunches are served on Fridays during Lent. The volunteer force has grown to include young people at the Day School, men and women of the church and volunteers from the community.

Lagniappe Group
Is compromised of Seniors in the church community who gather for lunch and a speaker on Thursdays following the 10 a.m. Healing service in the Chapel.
